P&O are ensuring that the bottle of champagne breaks during the traditional naming ceremony for its new liner Ventura.

Following the failure of a bottle to break against the side of rival firm Cunard's ship Queen Victoria, which is considered bad luck (not to mention embarrassing), P&O have enlisted the help of the Royal Marines to ensure the bottle smashes.

A public meeting, held to discuss moving the States of Guernsey to Central European time, had to be cancelled after no-one could be found to oppose the plan.

Central European Time (CET) is an hour ahead of UK time, and is used in many European countries including France, Spain, Germany and Belgium. Despite their proximity to France, the Channel Islands currently keep to UK time.

The National Trust is to give its 54,000 staff and volunteers the 29^th of February off to make their lives more environmentally friendly. They'll be expected to report to managers how they spent the day being greener.

The Trust is encouraging other companies to do the same.

A school in Kent is to punish pupils for their parents' school-run bad parking. Any pupil caught getting into a car parked in the bus lane outside the school will receive detention.
